The Dispatch

One roof, one team, one Circle of Care

UFIT is Singapore's largest independently owned health, fitness and sports community. It started in 2011 as an outdoor bootcamp in Fort Canning Park, run by co-founders Dean Ahmad and James Forrester, and grew into a network of multidisciplinary hubs where personal training, group classes, physiotherapy, sports medicine, nutrition and podiatry all live under one roof.

The premise is simple and, at the time, uncommon in Singapore: your body does not draw a line between "fitness" and "rehabilitation" - it only knows movement. So UFIT stopped separating the two. Coaches and clinicians sit on the same team and plan together through what the company calls its Circle of Care, so a client rarely gets passed between silos.

That approach reframes who a gym is for. UFIT talks about treating everyday members like athletes in their own lives - using assessment tools such as VO2 max testing, force plates and body-composition scans that are usually reserved for elite sport. The goal is not a before-and-after photo. It is helping people move better, feel stronger and understand their own health data in context.

"Movement is not just exercise - it's medicine that has the power to change how you live."Dean Ahmad · Co-Founder & CEO, UFIT

The Business

How UFIT makes money - and stands apart

UFIT runs a services business that is both B2C and B2B. Revenue comes from training and coaching packages, credit-based group memberships, fee-for-service clinical care, performance testing, custom orthotics and product sales, online coaching, junior sports programs, and corporate wellbeing contracts with employers.

Its edge is structural rather than a single feature. Where many operators are either a gym or a clinic, UFIT integrates both and lets one client relationship compound - a member who arrives for personal training may later need physio, then nutrition, then tennis for their kids, then a wellness program for their company. That is hard for single-discipline competitors to replicate.

"Team UFIT is redefining health and fitness to empower every client to go beyond what they think is possible."UFIT · Mission
