Sumit Agarwal
Sumit Agarwal is the CEO and co-founder of Ario, a Palo Alto AI assistant that takes aim at the 'invisible labor' of running a household - the school calendars, the returns, the meal planning. Before Ario he co-founded Shape Security, a fraud-prevention company F5 acquired for more than $1 billion. Earlier he was the youngest-ever Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon, a retired US Air Force major and one of the first officers in network warfare at Cyber Command, and ran mobile operations at Google. Ario raised $16 million in seed funding in June 2024 from Floodgate, Wing Venture Capital, Bain Capital Ventures and Moxxie.
Hasan Imam
Hasan Imam is the CEO of Obsidian Security, the SaaS security company protecting Fortune 1000 and Forbes Global 2000 enterprises across their cloud applications, AI agents, and integrations. He took the helm in 2021 when revenue was under $1 million and COVID had gutted the pipeline, then rebuilt the product and team and pushed Obsidian to win head-to-head customer evaluations more than 80% of the time. Before Obsidian, he grew Shape Security from under $3M to nearly $90M in revenue, ending in a $1 billion acquisition by F5. He has a master's in computer science from Stanford and a bachelor's from Wisconsin-Madison, which he finished in under three years.
Derek Smith
Derek Smith is a four-time serial entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Mimic, a Palo Alto-based cybersecurity company building ransomware detection and deflection technology that operates at the kernel level. He previously co-founded Oakley Networks (the first data leakage prevention company, acquired by Raytheon in 2007) and Shape Security (the first bot-defense company, acquired by F5 for $1 billion in 2020), and served as Senior Advisor for Cyber-Policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon. Mimic has raised $77 million in total funding, including a $50M Series A led by GV and Menlo Ventures.
Ryan Thompson
Ryan Thompson is General Counsel and Partner at Felicis, a Menlo Park-based venture capital firm that has backed over 50 unicorns and raised a $900M Fund X in 2025. A lawyer-turned-operator-turned-investor, Ryan brings nearly two decades of legal and operational muscle to one of Silicon Valley's most decorated early-stage firms. Before Felicis, he served as COO and General Counsel at Unusual Ventures and as General Counsel and VP of HR at Shape Security — which sold to F5 Networks for over $1 billion. He spent nine years as a corporate attorney at Goodwin Procter and DLA Piper, working on VC financings, M&A, and IPOs before crossing the table to the operator side.
