Gridmatic Wants to Turn the Power Grid Into a Forecasting Problem
The former Google engineer behind Gridmatic is applying search-ad automation to a harder auction: electricity. The company now trades across all seven major U.S. power markets, operates batteries in Texas and California, and sells energy to businesses that need cost certainty without giving up cleaner power.

Splight is a grid-technology company that uses machine learning to squeeze more capacity out of the power lines that already exist. Its flagship product, Dynamic Congestion Management (DCM), reads real-time conditions on transmission lines and turns fast-responding assets like batteries and data centers into grid-stabilizing tools, unlocking up to twice the usable capacity without building a single new tower. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in San Francisco, the company targets utilities, grid operators, and the AI data centers straining the grid - it now manages more than 3 gigawatts of grid assets and has raised about $24.4M to expand across North America and Europe.

Equilibrium Energy is a San Francisco-based clean power company building PowerOS, an agentic AI platform purpose-built for the power industry. Its flagship product, EQ Mission Control, optimizes battery storage and renewables portfolios across US power markets, blending grid physics, market modeling, and AI copilots.
Amit Narayan
Amit Narayan is the Co-Founder and CEO of GridCARE, a Redwood City-based generative AI company that unlocks hidden power grid capacity to slash data center connection timelines from 5-7 years to 6-12 months. A serial entrepreneur with a PhD from UC Berkeley and a B.Tech from IIT Kanpur, he previously founded AutoGrid (acquired by Schneider Electric in 2022) and Berkeley Design Automation (acquired by Mentor Graphics in 2014), and holds 7 U.S. patents across semiconductor design and energy software. GridCARE emerged from stealth in May 2025 with a $13.5M seed round led by Xora and backed by Tom Steyer, Ram Shriram, and Breakthrough Energy, targeting what Narayan calls the defining constraint on AI: immediate access to power.
