Pioneer
Pioneer is a San Francisco-based startup that helps climate tech companies find and win non-dilutive government funding - grants, contracts, loans, and tax incentives. It pairs large language models with an expert incentives team to match a company's sector and capital needs against thousands of federal, state, and local funding opportunities, then automates much of the application drafting and deadline management. Founded in 2022 by MIT-trained AI engineer Dimitar 'Mitko' Simeonov and Kyle Treige, Pioneer raised a $2.9M seed round led by Blue Bear Capital and says its software has helped innovators win over $186M in grants.

Mitko Simeonov (Dimitar Simeonov) is the founder and CEO of Pioneer, a San Francisco startup that uses large language models to help climate tech companies win government grants, contracts and incentives in a fraction of the usual time. A Bulgarian math olympian turned MIT-trained AI engineer, he shipped machine learning to hundreds of millions of users at Twitter before building Pioneer, which raised $2.9M in seed funding led by Blue Bear Capital in late 2023. He describes himself as a compulsive problem solver and writes a long-running blog about thinking independently.
