Gabriel Spencer-Harper Is Building a Safety Net for Software Written at Machine Speed
Before AI made code cheap, Gabriel Spencer-Harper was already obsessed with the expensive part: proving it works. His company, Meticulous, turns real user journeys into a living test suite - and a career of false starts into a sharp thesis about software's new bottleneck.
Meticulous Wants Your Users to Write the Tests - So Your Engineers Can Ship the Code
The old bargain was simple: write more tests or accept more bugs. Meticulous is betting that recorded behavior, deterministic browsers and a startling amount of parallel compute can break that bargain - just as AI agents make verification the slowest part of shipping software.
Chromatic
Chromatic is a cloud platform for frontend UI testing and review, built by the team behind the open-source tool Storybook. It runs visual, interaction, and accessibility tests across real browsers to catch UI regressions before they ship, then layers on a team review workflow so designers, PMs, and engineers can sign off on changes. Used by teams at GitHub, Adobe, the BBC, Square, and Monday.com, Chromatic turns the messy, manual job of UI QA into an automated step in the CI pipeline.
