During a valve replacement, flecks of calcium and tissue can ride the bloodstream toward the brain. Transverse Medical is betting that one carefully placed filter can stop the trip without getting in the cardiologist’s way.
ForCast Orthopedics is a Denver-based, development-stage combination-device company modernizing the treatment of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), a serious complication of joint replacement. Its proprietary Wearable Intra-Articular Infusion System (WIIS) delivers targeted, high-concentration antibiotic therapy directly into the infected joint to break through bacterial biofilm that defeats systemic antibiotics. Lead programs FC001 (vancomycin) and FC002 (tobramycin) both carry FDA QIDP designation, with FC001 also holding Orphan Drug designation. The company closed an initial Series A in August 2025 led by OrthoInnovations and is preparing for a clinical trial in 2026.
