Better. Faster. Half the price.
The Claude Code plugin that does what Anthropic didn't: makes token-efficient tool calls a default, not an afterthought. Built by two MIT engineers who decided the fastest path to cheaper AI was to replace the parts that waste the most.
Ben Collins — Co-founder & CEO
Every time Claude Code reads a file, it burns tokens. Every search, every edit call, every routine directory scan - the built-in tools are thorough, reliable, and not particularly frugal. At small scale, that's fine. At team scale, the bill starts looking like a rounding error on someone's AWS invoice.
Woz (WOZCODE) is the answer engineers actually wanted: a Claude Code plugin that swaps the wasteful defaults for leaner, purpose-built alternatives. Three specialized agents. Fewer tokens per operation. Compound savings across every session.
It doesn't intercept your data. It doesn't phone home. It doesn't require a new subscription - just the Claude one you already have. Two install commands and you're running a measurably cheaper, faster coding agent.
"Don't use Claude Code without WOZCODE."
- wozcode.com headlineWOZCODE lives entirely on your machine. No servers receive your code. No proxies intercept your LLM calls. The plugin installs directly into the Claude Code plugin marketplace in under a minute.
WOZCODE replaces Claude's built-in file tools with three purpose-built agents, each optimized for a specific type of work. Less token overhead per call means cheaper sessions that compound across your entire team.
The plugin activates automatically. No prompting required. No configuration ceremony. Just authenticate and watch the savings meter tick up.
Run /woz-savings at any point
to see exactly how much money the plugin has saved your session.
Not estimated. Not projected. Actual token delta vs. baseline.
Works across Claude Code, VS Code, Cursor, and the Claude Desktop App - wherever you already run your AI coding workflow.
Generic tools get generic performance. WOZCODE ships three specialized agents that handle distinct categories of work - and none of them burns tokens they don't need to.
Handles editing, search, and SQL. The workhorse agent for most coding sessions - replaces the default file tools with leaner equivalents that use fewer tokens per operation without sacrificing accuracy or capability.
Fast, read-only codebase exploration. When you need to understand a directory structure, find a function, or map out a module, woz:explore does it without the overhead of a full editing context. Purpose-built to be quick and disposable.
Architecture and implementation planning. Think of it as a dedicated reasoning pass before any code gets touched - woz:plan lays out the approach, surfaces trade-offs, and writes the blueprint so woz:code can execute efficiently without expensive mid-task pivots.
TerminalBench 2.0 tests real-world, end-to-end terminal tasks: compiling code, setting up servers, data science workflows, system administration.
WOZCODE operates as a locally-installed plugin. It does not proxy, intercept, or exfiltrate data. There is no server-side component that receives your source code or LLM inputs/outputs. Your Claude subscription handles the model calls. Woz handles the efficiency layer.
Compatible with the full Claude Code ecosystem: the CLI, Claude Desktop App, VS Code, Cursor, and Conductor. Drop it into your existing workflow - there's nothing to migrate and nothing to reconfigure. The savings start immediately.

Ben Collins — CEO
Ben Collins and Brad Eckert met as engineering students at MIT and have been friends for over 13 years. When AI-assisted development started eating real money at real companies, they had the same reaction most engineers do: there's a better way to do this.
Collins (CEO) had been building AI applications and thinking about how to make them accessible and economically viable. Eckert (CTO) brought deep engineering chops - a background that includes founding and leading engineering at Cairns Health (YC S17), an AI Masters program, and co-authoring over 25 patents.
Together they built the plugin they wished existed: one that makes Claude Code sustainable at scale without asking developers to change how they work.
Focused on product and go-to-market. Bringing AI tools to developers in a way that doesn't require a PhD or a blank check. Backed by a decade-plus of thinking about how AI can be made practically useful - not just technically impressive.
Engineering lead and systems thinker. Previously founded and led engineering at Cairns Health (YC S17). Holds an AI Masters background and has co-authored over 25 patents. The person who figured out which parts of Claude Code were burning the most tokens - and rewrote them.
In October 2025, Woz closed a $6 million seed round led by Cervin Ventures, with participation from Burst Capital, Y Combinator, Untapped Ventures, MGV, and the Lacob family - co-owners of the Golden State Warriors.
It's a notable investor list for a developer tools plugin. The Golden State Warriors connection, via the Lacob family, signals that this isn't just a niche tool for frugal solo developers - it's infrastructure for the way professional engineering teams will run AI coding at scale.

Ben Collins and Brad Eckert met as MIT engineering students and have been friends for over 13 years. They started a company together in part because they couldn't stop arguing about how to make AI tools work better.
Brad Eckert has co-authored over 25 patents. He also started an AI Masters program before dropping out to build WOZCODE. The patents mostly stayed; the degree did not.
One of their seed investors is the Lacob family, co-owners of the Golden State Warriors. The NBA-to-developer-tools pipeline is underreported in startup journalism.
The /woz-savings command gives you a real-time accounting of exactly how much the plugin has saved your current session. It's the kind of feature that makes engineers feel good about their tool choices.
The plugin is 100% JavaScript and has zero server-side components. It is, in a meaningful sense, doing the financial equivalent of swapping economy flights for private jets - except the private jet is also cheaper.
WOZCODE started as a different kind of AI platform entirely - an AI Technical Cofounder for non-technical founders - before pivoting hard to developer cost optimization. Sometimes the right product is the one you build for yourself.
WOZCODE plugin v0.3.44 released. 18 total public releases on GitHub. Active development cadence maintained since launch.
$6M seed round closed, led by Cervin Ventures. Burst Capital, YC, Untapped Ventures, MGV, and the Lacob family participate.
WOZCODE plugin launches publicly. Product pivots from AI Technical Cofounder platform to developer cost-optimization tooling. YC W25 cohort runs.
With Woz, Inc. founded in San Francisco by MIT engineers Ben Collins and Brad Eckert. The company begins as an AI platform for non-technical founders before finding its sharpest product-market fit.
