Qualpay

Qualpay is a San Mateo-based payments company that combines a merchant account and a payment gateway into a single cloud-based platform. Founded in 2014 by payments-industry veterans, it lets businesses accept card and ACH payments across online, in-person, phone and recurring channels, with tokenization, a customer vault, real-time reconciliation reporting and PCI DSS Level 1 security. In 2022 Synovus Bank took a majority stake to build an embedded finance platform on top of Qualpay's technology.
