Vellum Health is an Austin, Texas mobile healthcare company that delivers advanced intravenous (IV) care at the bedside. It combines on-demand vascular access, infusion therapy, and on-site blood transfusions with trained clinicians and an AI-powered patient intelligence platform. By extending hospital-grade IV services into skilled nursing facilities, long-term acute care centers, and homes, Vellum helps hospitals, payors, and post-acute providers avoid unnecessary hospitalizations, speed time-to-treatment, and lower the cost of care.
Tyler Payne
Tyler Payne is the founder and CEO of Vellum Health, an Austin-based company that sends clinicians to draw a line, hang an infusion, or run a blood transfusion at a patient's bedside in a skilled nursing facility or living room instead of an emergency room. He rolled up a set of regional vascular-access businesses, wrapped them in a single brand and an AI platform that reads a facility's EMR to find patients who need care, and closed a Series A in mid-2025 led by FCA Venture Partners. Before Vellum he helped build CVS Health's nationwide clinical-trial infrastructure and worked at Elligo Health Research and ePatientFinder. He holds a molecular biology degree from Colorado and an MBA from UT Austin's McCombs School.
Compassus
Compassus is a national home-based care company headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, delivering hospice, palliative care, home health and home infusion services to patients wherever they call home. Jointly owned by TowerBrook Capital Partners and the Catholic health system Ascension, Compassus operates across roughly 30 states with about 8,000 employees and has built its growth around joint ventures with major health systems - including OhioHealth, Providence and Ascension - so that hospitals can extend care into the home under a shared brand while Compassus runs the clinical operations.
Float Health
Float Health runs an on-demand marketplace that dispatches vetted registered nurses to patients' homes for specialty medication infusions. The San Francisco startup pairs an AI-powered scheduling platform with a gig-style nurse network, and acts as the staffing backbone for specialty pharmacies like CVS, Optum, Walgreens, Kroger and Option Care Health.
Ryan Johnson
Ryan Johnson is the Co-Founder and CEO of Float Health, a San Francisco-based healthtech company he founded in 2021 that connects specialty pharmacies and patients with vetted nurses for on-demand home infusion therapy. A former ER nurse with over 20 years of bedside and leadership experience across pre-hospital, rescue, and hospital settings, Ryan built Float after watching his own father depend on specialty infusions - care he could administer at home himself. Float graduated from Y Combinator's Winter 2022 batch and has raised $15 million in total funding, including a $10 million Series A led by Canvas Ventures in March 2024. The platform has completed over 86,000 home medication visits for clients including Optum, CVS, and Option Care Health.
