Before Neptune Medical, Alex Tilson raced solar cars, built Hollywood creatures, ran an American-record 50K and survived two startup pivots. The connecting idea is simple: endurance is an engineering discipline.
Neptune Medical is a Silicon Valley medical device company building the future of gastrointestinal endoscopy around its proprietary Dynamic Rigidization technology, which lets a thin-walled tube toggle instantly between flexible and rigid states using vacuum. Its first FDA-cleared product, the Pathfinder overtube, tackles the old and unglamorous problem of endoscope 'looping' during colonoscopy, and has been used in more than 15,000 patients. The company is now extending that platform into the Triton robotic endoscopy system, which posted a clean 100% cecal intubation rate with no adverse events in its first-in-human study.
