The Company

A toymaker that learned to speak fluent fandom

Mighty Jaxx started the way a lot of good businesses do - as an obsession. Jackson Aw had been collecting designer toys since 2006, and in 2012 he did something most hobbyists only daydream about: he took a $20,000 loan, bought a one-way ticket to China, and walked factory floors to learn how figures are hand-sculpted, moulded and finished. The company he came home to build now designs, manufactures and sells limited-edition collectibles to fans in more than 90 countries.

What Mighty Jaxx makes sits at the intersection of art, licensing and manufacturing. It produces vinyl and resin figures in collaboration with independent artists and under license from some of the biggest names in entertainment - Netflix, Disney, Hasbro, DC Comics, Formula 1 and Toei Animation among them. Over its history the studio has worked with more than 120 artists and brands, translating characters people already love into objects they want on a shelf.

The Idea

What "phygital" actually means

A toy is a toy until you put a chip in it. Starting around 2021, Mighty Jaxx began embedding NFC tags into its collectibles so that a physical figure could carry its own digital certificate - a blockchain-backed record of authenticity and provenance you can verify with a tap of a phone.

That solves a real, unglamorous problem in the collectibles market: proving a piece is genuine and tracing where it has been. Counterfeits and murky secondary-market history have long dogged high-value collectibles. A tamper-evident chip tied to a ledger gives collectors something a certificate of authenticity on paper never could.

The same year, Mighty Jaxx tested the purely digital end of the spectrum, releasing NFT collections - one 6,000-piece drop reportedly sold out in about two seconds. The company's framing is deliberately practical: use the chain for provenance and fan access, not speculation.

The result is a product that lives in two places at once - on a shelf and in a digital wallet - and a fan journey that can extend long after the box is opened.

“A collection of brands and companies that bridges future culture… and develops digital and phygital collectibles for every fandom and audience.” - The Mighty Jaxx Group

The Market

Who buys, and where it fits

Mighty Jaxx's customers are global pop-culture fans and art-toy collectors, plus the IP owners who license their characters for official merchandise. It competes in the fast-growing designer-collectibles space alongside names like Funko, Pop Mart, Kidrobot and Medicom Toy - but leans on two differentiators: deep artist collaborations and a technology layer (NFC + blockchain) that most rivals don't build in.

Licensing is the engine. Mighty Jaxx secured its first global agreement with DC Comics and has produced official collectibles and experiences across a roster of major entertainment brands, working with independent artists like Jason Freeny to give each line a distinct point of view.
