On a factory floor in Pengzhou, on the industrial edge of Chengdu, a robot rolls up to a steel assembly it has never seen before. It looks. It thinks. Then it welds - finding the seam in about ten seconds, with no engineer feeding it a program and no technician walking it through the motions. That, in a sentence, is the bet LE Robotics is making.
What the company does. LE Robotics - registered as Loyalty Robotics Welding Systems Corporation - designs and builds AI-driven welding and cutting robots for heavy industry. The pitch is not simply "a robot arm that welds." It is a robot that removes the two most expensive parts of industrial welding automation: the programming and the teaching. Traditional welding cells require an engineer to define every path in advance, and a skilled operator to correct the robot when a real-world part doesn't match the drawing. LE Robotics folds both jobs into the machine itself.
It does that with what the company calls a "hand-eye-foot-brain" system. A 3D-vision module - the eyes - reads a workpiece to a fraction of a millimeter. A SLAM navigation module - the feet - lets the robot move across a trackless floor, avoiding obstacles, so it isn't bolted to a single station. And an AI brain, fed by a proprietary welding knowledge database the company calls RX, decides the parameters and the path. The result the company advertises: one scan, and the full welding path is generated automatically, with quality traceable end to end.

Who its customers are. The buyers are not hobbyists or small shops. LE Robotics sells into some of the least forgiving corners of manufacturing: China National Nuclear Corporation, the oil-and-gas giant CNPC, and CRRC, the world's largest maker of rail vehicles. Around those anchor accounts sit makers of construction machinery, wind-turbine towers and petrochemical equipment - sectors where a bad weld is not a cosmetic problem but a safety one. The company says it has worked with more than 50 Fortune 500 companies. When your customers can't tolerate a defect, the product specification tends to write itself.
The problem it solves. Two problems, really. The first is a labor shortage. Skilled welders are aging out of the workforce faster than they are being replaced, and the work - hot, hazardous, repetitive - is one that fewer people want. The second is the brittleness of conventional automation. A pre-programmed welding cell is fast and precise until the part shifts, the batch changes, or the job is non-standard - at which point it needs a human to reprogram it. LE Robotics targets exactly that gap: high-mix, non-standard welding in environments where teaching a robot by hand every time is too slow to be worth it.
How it's different. The industrial-robotics field is crowded with capable names - ABB, KUKA, FANUC, Yaskawa on the arm side; SLAMTEC and Slamcore on the navigation side. LE Robotics' argument is not that any single piece is unmatched, but that it built the whole stack in-house and aimed it at one job. Its founder frames the difficulty bluntly: mastering welding processes, imaging, algorithms and robot control at the same time is the moat. "Even a team of PhD students might not be able to build something like this," Hu has said - not as a boast about cleverness, but about how hard the combination is to assemble.
The expertise behind it. That combination is not accidental. LE Robotics was spun out in 2022 from Loyalty Enterprises, a family industrial group founded by Hu's father, Hu Yachun, who had been building welding motors since the 1990s and grew the business to roughly a billion euros in annual turnover. Haojie Hu learned welding on that factory floor before earning an MBA at Columbia Business School - and, by his own account, turned down an invitation to start a venture in Silicon Valley to build robots in Chengdu instead. The spin-off inherited something most robotics startups never have: a real factory to test in from day one.
Products and services. The catalog has grown past 30 products across four categories. The flagship WindRunner Welder comes in Lift, Lift & Traverse, and Traverse Collaboration models; alongside it sit the Navigator, Strider, CompactPro, AgileMover and IntelliMover welders for different footprints and reach. A parallel WindRunner Cutter line handles plasma, flame, and combined processes. For larger structural work there are fixed welding stations - the SevenAxis TrackWeld, NineAxis CantileverWeld and GantryRail DualWeld - and, above all of it, "Smart Robotic Factory Solutions" that stitch the machines into a full Industry 4.0 line.
The business model. LE Robotics is a B2B industrial-equipment company. It sells robots, stations and full factory systems, backed by a full-stack, self-developed hardware-and-software ecosystem, distributor partnerships, and - increasingly - localized after-sales and R&D service centers in the markets it enters. That last point is not a footnote. In industrial hardware, after-sales trust is much of the actual product, and the company has signaled it wants to open service centers before it chases sales abroad.
Where it fits in the market. LE Robotics sits at the intersection of two waves the rest of the industry is only beginning to merge: embodied AI and industrial automation. It is small - LinkedIn lists a core team of just a couple of people, though its operational footprint spans China and overseas offices - and it is Chinese, competing partly on being self-reliant "made in China" technology. Its stated ambition is aggressive: a majority of revenue from international markets by 2027, aimed squarely at regions facing welder shortages and reshoring pressure.
