The Profile

Ambition is cheap. Execution is the product.

Ask a hundred businesses today whether artificial intelligence matters to their future and all hundred will say yes. Ask how many have moved AI out of the pilot deck and into the workflows their teams touch every day, and the number collapses. That gap - between the strategy everyone owns and the operations almost no one has changed - is the entire reason Fortisphere exists.

Founded in Sydney in 2024 by Eugene Trautwein, Fortisphere describes itself plainly: AI transformation, operations and advisory. It is a consultancy, but not the kind that hands over a roadmap and leaves before the hard part. It helps organisations benchmark where they stand, redesign the workflows worth automating, implement the tools, and - when a business needs seasoned hands rather than another report - supplies fractional operating leadership.

What separates it from the crowd is who built it. Trautwein spent more than two decades at Commvault, the data-protection company, where he led the worldwide customer support organisation along with services, training and enterprise customer success. That is not a strategist's résumé. It is an operator's - someone who has carried a real support queue, a real on-call rotation and a real P&L.

The firm's own words capture the thesis: "Businesses know AI matters. Fortisphere provides the structure, advisory, implementation support and executive operating experience to make it practical." Practical is the operative word. Experimentation, the company argues, is not the same as improvement, and enthusiasm is not the same as governance.

There is a second half to the story that most consultancies never attempt. Fortisphere runs an innovation lab that builds and ships its own software. Its first product, ResumeUplift.com, helps jobseekers get past the AI filters that reject most applicants before a recruiter ever opens the file. A firm that advises on AI and also ships AI products has a different kind of credibility - it lives with the consequences of its own advice.

It is, for now, a lean operation. Big outcomes here are a function of focus, not headcount.

What it does · Who it serves

The unglamorous middle of the AI curve

The problem it solves. Most AI initiatives die in the same place - the space between an exciting pilot and a boring production rollout. Data is messy, workflows have no obvious automation seams, governance is an afterthought, and momentum evaporates over eighteen months of committee. Fortisphere is built for that middle, where strategy either becomes real or quietly doesn't.

Who its customers are. SMEs, growing businesses, technology companies and enterprise operations teams - primarily across Australia and the wider APAC region, with a stated global reach. The firm is explicit that business complexity, not company size, drives its focus. On the product side, ResumeUplift serves individual jobseekers.

How it's different. Three ways. First, it is operator-led - the advice comes from someone who has run large support and success organisations, not just modelled them. Second, it productises. Instead of open-ended consulting, it offers defined engagements: a readiness snapshot, a deeper review, a 90-day sprint, a fractional advisory retainer. Third, it builds. The innovation lab means Fortisphere ships with the same tools it recommends.

Where it fits in the market. It sits between the big-four transformation practices - PwC, Deloitte, Accenture, Grant Thornton - and the crowd of independent AI implementers, offering enterprise operations DNA at a boutique's speed.

Beating AI filters with AI

Fortisphere's first incubated SaaS. Roughly 88% of qualified applicants are screened out by automated systems before a recruiter sees them - ResumeUplift helps jobseekers optimise resumes to pass applicant tracking systems and land more interviews.

Business Model & Expertise

Services now, products alongside

The revenue engine is services-led. Advisory and implementation engagements - readiness snapshots and reviews, 90-day sprints, fractional operations leadership - fund the business, while the innovation lab builds SaaS products such as ResumeUplift that can grow into their own revenue lines over time.

The expertise is unusually specific. It clusters where the founder's career was forged: customer support and success operations, workflow automation, and the discipline of data protection and resilience carried over from years at Commvault. That last point matters more than it first appears - in an era of rushing to automate, Fortisphere's instinct is to protect the data underneath the workflow, not just accelerate the workflow on top of it.

It is early-stage and lean. Public records place headcount in the low single digits, which the firm treats as a feature: focus over sprawl.

The Founder

Eugene Trautwein

Fortisphere is, for now, largely the extension of one person's experience. Eugene Trautwein spent more than 20 years at Commvault, a company built around backup, recovery and data resilience. There he led the worldwide customer support organisation and, across his tenure, also ran services, training and enterprise customer success.

That background explains the firm's temperament. Support and success leaders live at the point where a product meets the messy reality of customers using it. They learn that process, knowledge and governance decide outcomes as much as the technology does - a worldview that maps cleanly onto the unfinished business of enterprise AI.

His stated career also touches SupportLogic and Totango, both in the customer-operations software space, before he set out on his own with Fortisphere in 2024. As founder and CEO he leads a firm deliberately kept small.

The result is an advisory shaped by someone who has been on the receiving end of transformation programs, not just the selling end - and who, through the innovation lab, is now willing to ship products and be judged by them.
