# Underwater Audio

> Underwater Audio is a family-run consumer electronics company in Corvallis, Oregon that builds waterproof music players and headphones for people who spend their workouts underwater. It started in 2011 by figuring out how to waterproof an Apple iPod Shuffle without ever opening the case, then grew into its own line of players - the SYRYN MP3 player, the Delphin streaming micro-tablet, and the Swimbuds family of earbuds - sold directly to swimmers, triathletes and open-water athletes around the world.

## Products & services

- **Waterproof iPod Shuffle** — The company's original product - a genuine Apple iPod Shuffle treated with a proprietary internal waterproofing process (the case is never opened) so it functions fully submerged. Retired after Apple discontinued the Shuffle in 2017.
- **Swimbuds (Sport, Flip, Freedom)** — Short-cord, low-drag waterproof earbuds shipping with up to 11 eartip shapes/sizes to create a watertight seal - the seal is what makes underwater audio audible.
- **SYRYN** — An 8GB waterproof MP3 player (roughly 2,000 songs / 138 hours) that stores audio on-device via drag-and-drop, avoiding the streaming dropouts that plague Bluetooth underwater.
- **Delphin** — A waterproof micro-tablet / smart player (8GB and 16GB) that runs full versions of apps like Spotify, Audible, Pandora and the Amazon Appstore, downloading content for interruption-free playback underwater.
- **Swimbuds Bone Conduction** — Bone-conduction headphones that rest on the temples/cheekbones and transmit sound without sealing the ear canal - an alternative for swimmers who dislike eartips.
- **AquaGuard & swim accessories** — Hair and skin care for swimmers plus goggles, caps, replacement cables, lubricants and eartip kits - the surrounding gear that completes the 'swim with music' bundle.
