## Features

- **Calls and T9 messaging** — Physical backlit keys, noise-cancelling microphones, speakerphone, threaded SMS with predictive text and MMS on a 2-inch transflective display.
- **4G tethering** — Shares its mobile data connection with a laptop or tablet over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB.
- **Pigeon encrypted messaging** — An optional, downloadable Signal-compatible client supporting encrypted calls, texts, group messages and voice messages over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- **Focused utility set** — Contacts, notes, alarm, clock, calculator, calendar, timer and DailyView, without a browser, camera, social feeds or a general app store.

## Achievements

- Won a Japanese Good Design Award 2020 and was selected for the Good Design Best 100 in the cameras, mobile phones and tablets category.
- The first MP02 production run sold through on pre-order, according to launch creative partner Rosie Lee.

- **2026-06** — Pigeon 2.0.0033 rebased the encrypted messenger on a newer Signal codebase and added stability improvements, interface refinements and bug fixes.
- **2026-03** — Pigeon 2.0.0032 improved performance, fixed minor visual issues and addressed call functionality.
- **2026-02** — Pigeon 2.0.0031 addressed a critical communication issue caused by upstream Signal changes.
- **2025-06** — APHY 1.3.1 updates addressed stability and VoLTE compatibility for selected European carriers.
- **2021-11** — The MP02 New Generation shipped with APHY, replacing the original generation's BlackBerry Secure software base.
