# Odoo vs. Airbase

> Odoo and Airbase overlap around expenses, approvals and accounting workflows, but they begin from opposite assumptions. Odoo is an open-source suite of integrated business applications that can be extended and self-hosted, making finance one part of a broader operating system. Airbase was built as a focused procure-to-pay platform covering purchasing, accounts payable, cards and expenses; Paylocity acquired it in October 2024 and is integrating those capabilities with payroll and HCM. The practical buying decision is therefore not a simple product race, but a choice between owning more of the architecture and buying a more prescribed spend workflow inside a larger vendor suite.

## Achievements

- Odoo offers a broad suite of integrated open-source business applications spanning accounting, CRM, ecommerce, inventory, point of sale, projects and more.
- Odoo makes Community edition available as open source and offers Enterprise deployments through managed cloud and self-hosting options.
- Airbase brought procurement, accounts payable automation, expense management and corporate cards into one spend platform.
- At the acquisition announcement, Paylocity said Airbase served more than 500 clients and focused on organizations with 100 to 5,000 employees.
