# Braze Data Platform (Currents vs Segment)

> Braze, the customer engagement platform, has expanded its data tooling with Currents (event streaming out) and the broader Braze Data Platform (Cloud Data Ingestion, zero-copy warehouse triggers, user profile streaming). Traditionally Segment, the Twilio-owned CDP, sat upstream as the pipe feeding clean, unified data into Braze. The new question for buyers is whether Braze's native ingestion and enrichment removes the need for a separate CDP layer, or whether Segment's cross-source identity resolution and 450+ connectors still justify the cost of running both.

## Achievements

- Nearly 13 trillion events streamed via Braze Currents in 2025.
- 16.6 billion zero-copy warehouse updates processed in 2025.
- User Profile Streaming generally available for Snowflake; Currents available for S3, GCS and Azure.
- Bi-directional Databricks integration via Delta Sharing for ML enrichment and attribution.
- 450+ connectors on the Segment side define the CDP feature bar Braze is measured against.

## Latest updates

- **2026-01** — Braze Data Platform expansion: User Profile Streaming (GA for Snowflake), zero-copy Canvas triggers, CDI UI with independent syncs, early-access SQL Editor, and enhanced Databricks Delta Sharing.
- **2026-01** — Account Objects for household/enterprise identity modeling announced for a later FY27 release.
