# Apryse acquires Windward Studios

> Apryse (formerly PDFTron) acquired Windward Studios in April 2021, folding the Colorado document-automation company into its developer-focused document platform. Windward began life in 1996 as a game studio behind the real-time strategy title Enemy Nations, pivoted to enterprise reporting software in 2003, and grew to generate more than 10 million documents a month for over 2,000 organizations. Its core products were later rebranded as Fluent by Apryse.
